Josephine is a Solicitor specialising in representing adults and children who have suffered brain injuries due to medical negligence or accidents.  She joined the firm in September 2019 and worked in the Adult Brain Injury Team until August 2020. Josephine is currently on secondment to the Child Brain Injury Team.  She assists Claudia Hillemand with complex and high value claims on behalf of children who have suffered a brain injury as a result of medical errors or accidents.

Josephine is committed to providing help and support to clients who have sustained a serious injury in order to achieve the best possible outcome for their claim.  She has significant expertise in representing clients who don’t have capacity and understands the importance of working alongside her clients’ family and carers to achieve the best outcome for them.

She is able to rely on her experience in dealing with the Court of Protection and The Office of the Public Guardian to achieve the best possible outcome for clients who do not have capacity.  She recognises the importance in identifying and addressing neuro-rehabilitation needs early, to assist her clients in getting back on their feet.

Upon completion of her legal education, Josephine gained experience working as a paralegal for a leading London law firm for four years where she investigated medical negligence claims for individuals who had sustained significant spinal and neurological injuries.  She had a client facing role, attending High Court hearings and participating in conferences with medical experts and barristers.  A number of the cases on which she worked achieved settlements in excess of £1 million.

She also provided pro-bono advice to patients who were recovering at a neuro-rehabilitation centre and a serious burns unit, advising them on issues relating to Powers of Attorney, Deputyship Orders and Welfare Benefits.

She supports The Encephalitis Society, and regularly writes blogs surrounding the condition and fundraises for the charity.
