Sydney is a Costs Lawyer at Bolt Burdon Kemp. She joined BBK as a Paralegal in the Costs team in March 2022. Sydney works alongside other members in the Costs team to ensure that Costs Budgets, Bills of Costs, Points of Reply and Applications for Payments on Account of Costs are prepared to a high standard as well as negotiating with Defendant’s to maximise client profitability.
Sydney’s initial role within the Costs team comprised of preparing lower value Bills of Costs and documentation for Detailed Assessments. She has undertaken internal training and external training from a retired Costs Judge to develop her skills and knowledge. Sydney is now able to prepare electronic Bills of Costs, Points of Reply and Applications for Payments on Account of Costs on high value cases.
Sydney completed the Association of Costs Lawyers course in December 2023 and qualified in April 2024, which allows her to undertake reserved legal activities including the exercise of a right of audience, conduct of costs litigation and the administration of oaths.
Sydney graduated from City, University of London in 2020 with a degree in Law. She then completed the Legal Practice Course and a Master of Laws with a mark of distinction at The University of Law, in 2021.
