Expert support following an injury

A serious injury can change life in ways that are difficult to prepare for. Your health may be affected first, but the impact often reaches much further. Work may become harder. Independence may feel different. Family routines may need to change and plans for the future can feel less certain. It can be hard to know where to turn or what help is available.

The right rehabilitation and care can make a real difference after a serious injury. It can help rebuild confidence, regain as much independence as possible and find ways to make day-to-day life easier. A personal injury claim can help secure the financial security needed to access that specialist care, both now and long into the future.

At Bolt Burdon Kemp, we specialise in serious and complex personal injury claims involving life-changing injuries. Our personal injury team is ranked in The Legal 500, recommended by Chambers & Partners and listed in The Times Best Law Firms for personal injury and clinical negligence.

We know that starting a claim can feel daunting. You do not need to feel ready for thea legal process before speaking to us. You can simply tell us what has happened, what you are worried about, and what help you need now. We will listen, explain your options clearly, and help you decide what feels right.

If you would like to talk things through, contact us for a confidential, no-obligation conversation.

Can I claim compensation for a personal injury?

Most personal injury claims come down to a straightforward question: should someone else have taken better care in order to keep you safe? That might be at work, on the road, in a public place, abroad, during sport, or while using a product or service. If they had a responsibility to protect you and failed to meet it, and that failure led to your injury, you may have grounds to claim.

Accidents happen in all kinds of situations and it’s common to feel uncertain about who was at fault, particularly if more than one person or organisation was involved. That uncertainty doesn’t prevent you from exploring a claim, it’s exactly the kind of thing we can help you make sense of.

The impact of your injury matters too. Beyond the physical harm, a claim could cover lost earnings, rehabilitation costs, psychological injuries, and the long-term effects on your independence, your family life, or your ability to work. If your injury has changed the shape of your life in a meaningful way, it’s worth understanding your options.

You don’t need to have all the answers before you pick up the phone. We will start by listening: to what happened, how your injury occurred, and what your situation looks like now. From there, we can advise whether a claim is viable and whether you’re still within the relevant time limits to be able to make a claim.

What happens when you contact us?

The first step is a conversation. You can tell us what happened, what you are worried about, and how the injury is affecting you now. If you are contacting us on behalf of a child, partner, parent or another loved one, we will support you with that too.

You do not need to gather all the evidence before speaking to us. It can help to have a sense of the key dates, where the incident happened and who may have been involved, but we can talk this through together. If we need further information, we can explain what may be useful and help you obtain the right documents. This might include medical records or other forms of evidence including in the form of photographs, witness statements or police reports.

Once we have established reasonable grounds to investigate a claim, we will talk you through what needs to happen next and why. In serious injury cases, this means asking independent specialists to help us understand the full impact of the injury. A medical expert may be needed to comment on the injury itself, while other experts can help us understand what immediate and long-term support should be considered as part of the claim.

We will also talk about funding at the outset. Many personal injury claims are funded through a no win, no fee agreement. We will explain what that means in practice, what costs may arise, and what protection may be available, so you can make a clear and informed choice

Why choose Bolt Burdon Kemp?

No Win, No Fee

Our solicitors work on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis. If we can help you on that basis too, it means you will not pay anything if your claim is unsuccessful provided you have stuck to your obligations. You can learn more in our legal fees guide.

Highly recommended

We are accredited by both the Law Society and Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). Leading UK charities such as HeadwayLimbless Association, and the Spinal Injuries Association endorse and recommend us too.

Both the independent Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 guides note our work in personal injury claims. The Legal 500 also recognises how our “sub-division of specialisms allows team members an increased focus on their own area of expertise”.

When you are living with a serious injury, you need a legal team that sees the whole picture. The law matters, but so do rehabilitation, housing, care, family life, financial stability and being treated with dignity throughout the process.
