What is Child Abuse?

Child abuse is any action – committed by an adult or child – that causes significant harm to a child or young person under the age of 18. Child abuse can take many different forms including physical, sexual and emotional mistreatment and even neglect. The perpetrators can be individual abusers, foster parents, employers, employees or volunteers at sports or youth clubs, social services and even religious organisations. Read more about what qualifies as child abuse.

Survivors’ Stories

Watch the testimonies of five child abuse survivors in a short film that seeks to inform and empower others who may have endured similar abuse. Disclosing your suffering is never easy but our contributors hope that their stories will inspire others to come forward and disclose their abuse to the police.
