Maya joined Bolt Burdon Kemp in June 2026 and works alongside Abbie Hickson as a Solicitor in the Abuse Claims Team.
Maya has over three years’ experience assisting on clinical negligence and personal injury claims, including cases involving birth injury, traumatic brain and complex spinal injury, and industrial disease. She has worked at three Legal 500 firms, including a reputable firm in London, where she assisted in securing the firm’s highest ever settlement for a traumatic brain injury claim involving a child.
Maya is a compassionate and empathetic communicator who takes pride in creating a safe, supportive, and trusting environment for her clients. She understands that civil compensation claims can be a significant step in helping survivors of abuse reclaim their voice and achieve a sense of closure. She is deeply committed to supporting them throughout every stage of their claim.
Prior to joining BBK, Maya completed her training contract with the Crown Prosecution Service, qualifying as an Associate Prosecutor in April 2026. She was trained in the specialist Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Unit, where she supported the progression of a range of serious sexual offence cases, including historic abuse claims, through the criminal justice system.
Maya is passionate about social welfare issues and is committed to promoting access to justice. She studied Politics and then completed her Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of East Anglia, where she achieved one of the highest marks in her cohort for her dissertation on medical consent and the rights of gender non-conforming children accessing puberty-blocking treatment.
She went on to study the LPC LLM at BPP University, where she served as a Student Careers Ambassador and volunteered with the Employment Pro Bono Helpline. During this time, she also completed a further first-class dissertation, providing a critical analysis of surrogacy law in England and Wales and proposing reforms to better support women and same-sex couples. Maya also interned at the first-tier immigration tribunal court in central London, where she was trained as a court clerk.
