Awel is a Trainee Solicitor in the Personal Injury team.
Awel joined Bolt Burdon Kemp in July 2022 as a paralegal, working alongside Hokman Wong and Heather Petrie on complex and high value brain injury claims as a result of clinical negligence and personal injury. The team work on a variety of claims such as brain injuries arising from accidents at work, road traffic collisions and delays in the diagnosis of medical conditions.
Before joining Bolt Burdon Kemp, Awel studied Law at Cardiff University and then went on to gain experience with industrial disease claims with a focus on asbestos litigation at another law firm, dealing with clients directly and supporting others in the team. This cemented her interest in practicing law and becoming a solicitor, which led her to go and study the Legal Practice Course (with LLM) at the University of Law (Bloomsbury), in which she obtained a distinction.
Awel is passionate about mental health and access to justice and volunteered as an ‘Appropriate Adult’ during her time as a student in Cardiff. This role involved attending police interviews with individuals who had mental health and/or learning difficulties, to facilitate effective communication between the police and the vulnerable individual(s). This experience has influenced Awel’s ability to sensitively communicate with vulnerable clients, as she is understanding to the fact that each injury presents itself differently in each individual.
Awel is dedicated to building good rapport with clients and providing a high standard of service and professionalism. She strives to support clients at a very difficult time in their lives.
