Jack is a Partner in the Costs team at Bolt Burdon Kemp. He is also a Costs Lawyer and the current Chairman of the Association of Costs Lawyers.
Prior to joining in 2015, Jack gained experience at two leading national costs firms, acting for both receiving and paying parties.
He regularly undertakes advocacy in the High Court of Justice and County Courts; at Costs and Case Management Conferences (CCMC), Applications, Oral Reviews of provisional assessment and Detailed Assessments.
During his time in practice, Jack has gained experience in a wide range of costs claims, focussing now on the firm’s core areas of work including historic abuse, bullying & harassment, clinical negligence, military claims, and personal injury cases. Alongside this, his experience also extends to commercial litigation, Court of Protection, design rights, international disputes, patent disputes, probate, and Solicitor & Own Client assessments.
The wide range of clients and matters Jack has been exposed to provide the perspective required to tailor his approach and strategy to meet his client’s needs. This has led to Jack being recognised as a “solid and reassuring” presence in the Legal 500.
He has a keen interest in developing the next generation of talent, having previously been a Director and Board Member of the company responsible for training all Costs Lawyers nationally.
Jack regularly writes on costs-related issues for Thomson Reuters and New Law Journal, as well as The Law Gazette.
Jack graduated from Canterbury Christchurch University where he read Law (LL.B) and gained mediation experience with The Mediation Service.
