Awel is a Solicitor in the Spinal Injury team at Bolt Burdon Kemp. She works alongside Rhiannon Daniel, specialising in both personal injury and clinical negligence claims.
Awel joined BBK in July 2022 as a paralegal in the Adult Brain Injury department. She began her training contract in October 2023, completing seats in the Complex Injury and Spinal Injury teams, as well as a six-month secondment at an employment law firm. She has experience supporting claimants with a wide range of complex injuries, including brain and spinal injuries, and works on cases involving accidents at work, road traffic collisions, delays in medical diagnoses and negligent surgeries.
During her secondment in employment law, Awel advised both individuals and companies on a variety of matters, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, and settlement agreements. This experience broadened her understanding of workplace dynamics and the legal obligations of employers, enhancing her ability to identify employment-related issues in personal injury and clinical negligence claims. It also strengthened her client communication skills, particularly when handling sensitive or emotionally charged matters.
Before joining BBK, Awel studied Law at Cardiff University and gained valuable experience as a paralegal at another law firm, where she focused on industrial disease claims, particularly asbestos litigation. She worked directly with clients and supported the wider team, confirming her passion for legal practice. This led her to undertake the Legal Practice Course (with LLM) at the University of Law (Bloomsbury), where she achieved a distinction.
Awel is particularly passionate about mental health and access to justice. While at university, she volunteered as an ‘Appropriate Adult’, attending police interviews to support individuals with mental health conditions and learning difficulties. This experience deepened her understanding of vulnerability and shaped her sensitive, empathetic approach to client care.
She is committed to building strong, trusting relationships with her clients and delivering a consistently high standard of service. Awel strives to support clients through what is often one of the most challenging periods in their lives.
