Committed to swiftly progressing claims

Anya is a Paralegal in Bolt Burdon Kemp’s Abuse Team. Working alongside Jospeh Carr, Anya assists on claims regarding historic child abuse and claims against individuals and institutions (i.e. Scout Association, religious bodies and schools).

Anya is passionate about representing survivors as she believes that civil claims can hold individuals and organisations accountable for injustices. The courageous decision by a survivor to discuss their experience can encourage justice, and mobilise increased scrutiny into polices, public bodies and attitudes that enable abuse to exist. Although compensation can neither change the past nor truly account for the pain caused by abuse, it can act as a crucial starting point for providing closure and justice for survivors.

Prior to starting her legal career, Anya studied law at the University of Bristol achieving marks within the top 10% of her cohort as well as the highest mark in Medical Law.

Anya volunteered for Bristol Women’s Voice, where she lobbied MPs to commit their support to various campaigns and assisted in organising the charity’s International Women’s Day. Anya was the Fundraising and Publicity Co-ordinator at Open Door, a charity that assists people at risk of homelessness. This voluntary work reflects Anya’s passion in supporting vulnerable members of society.

Anya previously worked as a Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence Paralegal at another specialist firm before moving to Bolt Burdon Kemp to specialise in abuse. Anya has assisted on a range of complex high value cases. She prioritises good client rapport, empathy, transparency and efficiency.

Anya would like to qualify as a solicitor in this area of law because she believes it is a privilege to represent survivors that have made the brave decision to bring a claim against their abuser and fight for justice.
