Jennifer is an Associate in Bolt Burdon Kemp’s specialist Military Claims Team. She represents serving personnel, veterans and their families in complex claims involving fatalities, catastrophic injury and psychiatric harm.

Jennifer has particular experience supporting bereaved families after the death of a loved one. She represents families at inquests and advises on the civil claims that can follow, helping clients navigate what is often one of the most difficult periods of their lives. Her experience includes involvement in high-profile inquests of significant public interest. Prior to joining BBK, Jennifer was part of a team representing the family of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse in proceedings which led to the introduction of Natasha’s Law in October 2021, strengthening allergen labelling requirements across the UK food industry. She has more recently acted as part of the legal team in the inquest concerning Trooper Jack Burnell-Williams of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment.

Jennifer understands that, for many families, a legal case is about far more than compensation alone. It is about finding out what happened, getting answers, seeking accountability and making sure lessons are learned for the future. She recognises the particular challenges faced by serving personnel, veterans and military families, and the wider impact that injury or loss can have on a person’s career, family life, financial security and future. Whether acting for a bereaved family seeking answers after a military death, or for an injured service person whose life has been changed by negligence, Jennifer combines sensitivity with a clear focus on achieving the best possible outcome. She works closely with each client to understand what matters most to them and to guide them through the legal process with clarity and care.

Alongside her casework, Jennifer is committed to improving support for bereaved military families. She has written and spoken publicly about the impact of delays in the coroners’ courts and the importance of ensuring families are not left without answers or support for prolonged periods. She has also campaigned to strengthen the implementation and enforcement of Coroners’ Prevention of Future Deaths (PFD) reports, aimed at reducing the recurrence of systemic failings identified during inquests. Her wider work reflects a strong commitment to improving outcomes for those affected by bereavement and serious injury.
