Kathleen Hallisey interviewed for BBC World Service regarding abuse within the Jehovah’s Witnesses
Kathleen Hallisey, senior solicitor in the abuse team at Bolt Burdon Kemp, speaks to the BBC’s Heart and Soul programme about the battle Jehovah’s Witness abuse survivors face to bring their cases to justice. Survivors are met with obstructions at every turn.
Kathleen represented the Claimant in the landmark case of A v Watchtower EWHC 1722 (QB), the first judgment against the Jehovah’s Witnesses in the UK for historic sexual abuse. Kathleen is passionate about securing more robust child safeguarding policies and is heavily involved in campaigning to raise awareness about child abuse within the Jehovah’s Witness organisation. She has demonstrated at Parliament Square and had an audience at Downing Street to push for mandatory reporting of child abuse.
