ABI Week and Hats for Headway 2019
Action For Brain Injury Week is a week-long awareness raising event that took place between the 20th and 26th May 2019. Also known as ABI Week, the event is organised by Headway, a leading charity that is dedicated to promoting understanding of all aspects of brain injury. On the 24th May, it was Headway’s annual Hats for Headway Day. This fun event encourages the public to wear a hat, cap or any wacky hat to raise awareness of brain injuries. Headway’s main aim is to raise awareness of not only the physical impairments but also the ‘hidden disabilities’ like changes to personality, thinking and memory. The charity provides support not only to brain injured individuals but also their families. The Brain Injury teams at Bolt Burdon Kemp joined in the fun activity by wearing sporty caps as seen on Bryn Laxton-Coglon and myself. Suzanne Trask, head of the Adult Brain Injury team showed her support by sporting a lovely bowler hat to raise awareness of brain injuries!
The brain injury teams at Bolt Burdon Kemp continue to support Headway’s campaign to raise awareness of brain injuries. Myself and Heather Petrie from the Adult Brain Injury team will be taking part in Go Wild for Headway from the 20th to 21st June. This is an adrenaline filled challenge that includes a 30ft waterfall jump, trekking and climbing! This daunting challenge is for a worthy cause and will help expand the wonderful work that Headway provides for suffers of brain injuries and their families. If you or someone you know has been affected by a brain injury, please contact this fantastic charity for support and more information.
