Former South Yorkshire Police officers arrested for historic sexual offences

Two former South Yorkshire Police officers have been arrested following allegations of historic sexual offences. The incidents, which include attempted rape and indecent assault, allegedly occurred in the 1990s while the officers were on duty as police constables in Rotherham.

The first suspect, a retired officer now in his sixties, is under investigation for alleged child sexual abuse against two girls between 1995 and 1999. He faces accusations of attempted rape, misconduct in a public office, and three counts of indecent assault.

The second suspect, now in his fifties, was arrested on suspicion of indecent assault in 1995 or 1996, alongside misconduct in a public office. Both individuals have been released on bail while investigations continue.
