BBK joins Legal Panel of Limb-loss and Amputee Charity, the Limbless Association

It is with immense pride that we announce the exciting news that Bolt Burdon Kemp has formally joined forces with the Limbless Association and now feature on the charity’s legal panel.

As part of this new partnership, our specialist personal injury solicitors will provide legal support to the charity across both the South West and Eastern regions of England.

Nationally, the Limbless Association provide hands-on support for amputees, as well as the wider limb-loss community, informing and advising industry stakeholders.  As part of their invaluable role, the charity holds monthly Support and Connect Hubs whereby users come together and network, partake in activities from yoga to meditation and generally share experiences.

Origins

It was after being introduced to the charity’s CEO Debbie Bent in 2018 that I was invited to attend one of these monthly support meetings held at the Long Term Conditions Centre at Harold Wood, Essex.  This was my first opportunity to meet the incredible personalities involved in this charity including their staff, users and their dedicated volunteers without whom much of the amazing work done would simply not be possible.

Following this meeting, I embarked upon what was to become a particularly audacious fundraising challenge in aid of the charity known as the Six Peaks which was completed in September 2018 alongside several solicitor colleagues here at Bolt Burdon Kemp.

Since this time, I have grown to consider our firm’s association with the charity as integral to my role as a serious injury solicitor.  This is because within the space of 12 months, several of our amputee clients have been sign-posted to the charity and found the support on offer to be of enormous benefit.  It really is a string to the firm’s bow to be in a position to refer clients to charities such as the Limbless Association safe in the knowledge they will be provided with first class support to run alongside the rehabilitation made available during the legal process.

It has transpired to be a particularly opportune time to cement our relationship with the Limbless Association following the recent announcement that the charity’s application to The National Lottery’s Community Fund has been successful.  This will accelerate the charity’s ambitious growth plans for the future and everyone at Bolt Burdon Kemp relishes the opportunity to support these plans as the charity goes from strength to strength.

For over 30 years, Bolt Burdon Kemp has provided legal advice to those who have experienced limb-loss in all manner of circumstances from medical accidents to road traffic and workplace accidents.  Whatever the circumstances, our complex injury solicitors have the relevant expertise to ensure that needs of those affected by limb-loss, including their families, are fully catered for.  This includes sign-posting and coordinating limb-loss support in-line with the particular individual’s requirements.  This could include facilitating access to sports and leisure activities enjoyed prior to their amputation to coordinating trials of the latest prosthetic technology and equipment on the market.

Joshua Hughes is a senior associate and Head of the Complex Injury team at Bolt Burdon Kemp.  If you or a loved one has been injured as a result of an accident or sub-standard medical treatment, contact Joshua free of charge and in confidence on 020 7288 4817 or at joshuahughes@boltburdonkemp.co.uk for specialist legal advice.  Alternatively, you can complete this form and one of the solicitors in the Complex Injury team will contact you.
