Military Medical Negligence Claims

Military medical negligence can be an unusual field. We have years of experience providing representation for members of the Army, Navy, the Royal Air Force and Special Forces.

Get in touch

Our team understands that military doctors – including civilian doctors working for the MoD – are required to reflect the high standard that the armed forces demands from all their members. If the standard of medical care you received in the military has fallen below this expectation, get in touch with us to talk about bringing a claim.

We usually work on a no-win, no-fee basis and can also help with a claim using the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme.

Medical negligence cases

BBK’s military team is one of the few firms in the country that have a successful proven background in bringing military clinical negligence claims. We believe that you should receive the best medical treatment for the work that you do.

We usually bring cases in respects of the delay in diagnosing and treating a specific medical condition. We settled the first Lariam case in England and Wales. Our lawyers have experience in various substandard military medical treatment to include:

And we also have brought negligence claims after military personnel have been affected by medical issues that they have in common with the civilian population, including:

  • Orthopaedic injuries
  • Delays in diagnosis of cancer, or misdiagnosis of cancer
  • Brain injuries
  • Spinal injuries
  • Limb-loss injuries

If the standard of medical care you received fell below this standard then get in touch with us to talk about bringing a claim.

Making a claim for medical negligence in the military

If you believe the medical attention you received in the military was inadequate, then contact our team to discuss a claim and how it would be funded. We may need to see your medical records before deciding on the best course of action.

There are time limits for bringing military medical negligence claims. Please visit the main military claims page for more information, and contact us as soon as possible.

Client Journeys

Our client, a Private in the British Army, experienced a delay in diagnosis of ulcerative colitis whilst deployed in Afghanistan in 2011. His bowel perforated as a result and he was subsequently medically downgraded and discharged from the Army. The MOD settled his claim for £575,000.
