Toshihide Nukui, masseuse at Thames Lido, jailed for sexually assaulting women

Judge Kirsty Real jailed Toshihide Nukui for five years yesterday at Reading Crown Court.

Nukui assaulted many women whilst he was working as a masseuse at the Thames Lido and The Therapy Centre in Reading.

Reading their victim personal statements, the brave women highlighted how Nukui took advantage of them whilst they were vulnerable and denied his assaults when they were reported to the Thames Lido.

Nukui sought to minimise his sentence by relying on his guilty plea. However, he only pleaded guilty on day two of his trial causing his victims significant distress as they had prepared themselves to give evidence at his trial.

Judge Real, rightly, repeatedly highlighted Nukui’s abuse of trust afforded to him by his employer. He has also been sentenced to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, barring him from advertising or working as a masseuse in the future.

If you or your family has been a victim of abuse whether sexual, physical and/or emotional within a massage setting, please contact Siobhán Crawford or the Abuse team for further advice.
