Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week 2020
From the 3rd to the 9th February 2020 marks Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week.
The aim of the week is to promote services that support survivors of sexual abuse, share ways to prevent sexual assault and support those who are survivors of sexual abuse. Disclosing sexual abuse can be something survivors fear. They may fear being disbelieved. They may fear the impact upon their loved ones. Knowing that they have support by way of the awareness week helps survivors immeasurably.
During the week you can get involved by attending the Light Up the Night walk in London on Millennium Bridge on 5th February at 18:00. We will be meeting near Tate Modern to start the walk.
Bolt Burdon Kemp are funding a new Independent Sexual Violence Advisor who will work with Survivors UK.
If there are not any events near to you then you can still raise awareness. You can:
- Like and follow the Facebook page
- Print and complete the poster and upload the image to your social media Follow and/or use the #itsnotok so you can tell thousands of people across the UK that survivors of sexual abuse will be believed and supported.
