Scout Master Bruce Moir convicted of sexual abuse
On Thursday 22nd July, Moir was sentenced for sexually abusing three children.
The abuse happened between 1986 and 1996 and included six counts of indecent assault against the children.
It was heard how Moir groomed one of his victims with video games, teaching to play the keyboard and sexually abusing them on overnight camps trips.
Moir was a former Scout Leader.
At Luton Crown Court, Moir was sentenced to nine years in prison, with an extended licence on release of eight years. His sentenced included a Sexual Harm Prevention Order which is indefinite and he is barred from working with children in the future.
On sentencing, Detective Constable Claire Long of Bedfordshire Police encouraged victims to speak to the police when the time is right for them:
“It is never too late to speak up about sexual abuse, no matter when it happened. And this case shows we will do our utmost to see an abuser brought to justice, even years down the line.”
