Our evidence for the Parliamentary Inquiry “Women in the armed forces: from recruitment to civilian life”
I was pleased to see the Defence Committee launch an inquiry into Women in the Armed Forces: From Recruitment to Civilian Life, on 1st December 2020. The Committee will look at the experience of servicewomen from recruitment to resettlement and consider whether there are unique challenges that are not adequately addressed by the current policies and services.
I think this is a really positive step, given the experiences that servicewomen frequently recounted to my team about their time in the forces. We are, sadly, still instructed on many claims relating to discrimination, bullying, harassment and violence towards servicewomen. Servicewomen deserve better.
Bolt Burdon Kemp has submitted evidence, based on our work. These submissions have now been accepted into evidence and can be read here. I have also been invited to speak to the Inquiry on 18th March 2021 and I hope to update you about developments again after that time.
If anyone wishes to speak about their experiences, please do not hesitate to contact me or my team.
