Deborah Addams distributed revenge porn to her ex-husband’s staff

Deborah Addams denied the offences but was found guilty at Folkestone Magistrates Court earlier this month and will be sentenced at a later date.

Addams was found guilty of disclosing a sexual photograph, harassment, assault and breaching a restraining order.

When questioned in Court about the harm her persistent harassment had caused, she said: “If I wanted to hurt him I would cut off his balls and wear them as earrings“.

The couple broke up in February 2015, having been together for 11 years.

Addams was convicted of harassment and given a restraining order in July 2016 – yet she continued to email and text her ex-husband, ignoring the restraining order.  She sent her ex-husband a total of 1,500 harassing text messages in just two months.

Addams then distributed a naked photograph of him to one of his employees.  She also posted a similar image of her former partner in his office window.

Completely understandably, Addams’ ex-husband said “I was embarrassed.  She was deeply terrible to me for a long time.”

The 56-year-old was also found guilty of throwing a bag of dog excrement and gravel at her former partner outside his property in January 2017.  She will be sentenced at a later date, but Addams has been told that she should not expect a custodial sentence, despite her offensive behaviour.

Bolt Burdon Kemp brought the first successful civil claim for compensation in relation to victims of sexting and the intentional harm caused by the sharing and distribution of images.  As a victim of revenge porn, Addams’s ex-husband may have a claim against her under these same principles.
