Former football coach Barry Bennell charged with further child abuse offences

Barry Bennell, who had links with Crewe Alexandra, Manchester City and Stoke City, has been charged with eight further counts of child sexual abuse.

The charges relate to two boys that were allegedly abused by him between 1980 and 1987 and follow an investigation by Cheshire Police.  The charges relate to indecent assault on a boy aged under 16, two counts of indecent assault on a boy aged under 14 and five counts of buggery.

The Crown Prosecution Service has said that Bennell will appear via video link at South Cheshire Magistrates’ Court on Monday 13th March in relation to these charges.
