Forest Hill teacher Geoffrey Dolamore jailed after 50-year campaign of child sexual abuse

A former teacher and children’s charity director has been jailed for sexually abusing young boys in a campaign of abuse that began more than 50 years ago.

Geoffrey Dolamore, 87, was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment after admitting 12 charges relating to the sexual abuse of three young boys, as well as three counts of making indecent images of children.

Some of Dolamore’s offences date back to more than 50 years ago. He abused his positions of trust in relation to two of the victims, grooming them and praying on their vulnerabilities, and sexually assaulting them on multiple occasions.

We represent one of the survivors in a civil claim for compensation.

The sentencing will bring the victims and their families some sense of justice but will not undo the suffering endured and irreversible damage it has caused.

The judge at Woolwich Crown Court commented on Friday that it was clear it took a great amount of courage for the victims to come forward.

Many survivors of childhood sexual abuse feel a deep sense isolation and shame. If you or someone you know has suffered abuse in a school or institutional setting, you are not alone and there is support available. At Bolt Burdon Kemp, we are specialists in representing survivors of abuse and you can contact us for free and confidential legal advice.

We would like to take this opportunity to appeal, on behalf of our client, for witnesses who may be able to assist with our investigations. The abuse took place in between 1970 and 1972.
