Doctor found guilty of sexual assault at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe General Hospital

Salman Qureshi has been found guilty of two counts of historic sexual assault against women at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe General Hospital.

Qureshi pleaded not guilty to the charges, forcing the women he assaulted to attend trial, which will only have served to aggravate the harm he has already caused them. Despite his not guilty pleas, a jury unanimously found him guilty on two counts of sexual assault.

Disclosing sexual abuse is always difficult and I commend the bravery of the women who came forward to report Qureshi to the police and had the strength to go through a criminal trial to ensure Qureshi faces justice for his crimes.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Collette Parker, of Aylesbury Police Station, said: “Qureshi used his trusted position as a Doctor to assault two young women who were in his care.

“We hope this conviction shows that victims of sexual assault can report historical incidents and we will investigate them.”

Qureshi will be sentenced on 29 November 2023.
