BBK Manifesto: The next Government must prioritise ending the delays in our courts

In this episode, Lucy Wakeley, from our Public Affairs team speaks to, Jennifer Ellis, Solicitor in our Military Team. In this episode, they discuss the launch of the Bolt Burdon Kemp Manifesto for Injured People and specifically their call for politicians to prioritise ending the delays to our justice system.

Our justice system is creaking under the weight of the severe backlog of cases affecting criminal, civil and coroners’ courts. This poses a severe threat to justice and is leaving families unfairly waiting years for answers. Jennifer urges the next government to get a grip on these delays or face a loss of faith in the justice system.

We discuss the consultation response we provided to the Justice Committee, the specific impact of the delays in coroners courts, and what the main political parties’ manifestos say about court delays.

This podcast is part of our BBK Manifesto. Our manifesto proposes 10 key areas that need to be prioritised by politicians. This has been informed by our client’s experiences and our partnerships with charities that support our clients and others like them.
