Witness appeal – Former solicitor Alan Harris
We are acting for five clients in relation to abuse perpetrated by former solicitor Alan Harris.
Harris, a former criminal defence solicitor who worked in Plymouth, was jailed for 13 years in February of this year after being found guilty of sexually assaulting seven of his clients.
Alan Harris, 72, was described by one victim as a “monster” who targeted the “scared and desperate”. The offences took place between 1988 and 2015, largely during private legal consultations at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court and Charles Cross police station.
In December 2025, Harris was convicted of five counts of indecent assault and five counts of sexual assault against six men and one woman, most of whom were teenagers at the time.
The clients I represent feel that Harris’s prison sentence is only one step in their journey toward justice. They trusted him as their solicitor, and he abused that trust in the worst possible way. It is entirely understandable that they now want full accountability for what they endured.
I am appealing for witnesses who may be able to assist with our investigations.
We are keen to hear from anyone who may have encountered Harris in the courts or at the police station but did not feel able to raise concerns or provide a statement at the time.
