Prison sentence for two Birmingham men for historic child abuse offences

Two men have been jailed for child sexual abuse in Birmingham which led to a boy being forced into prostitution.

David Jordan, 74, and William Douglas, 58, targeted boys as young as 10 years old in the Eighties.

Jordan, who worked as a milkman in Birmingham, sought out his victim, who was only 10 years old at the time, to help him with his milk round before then abusing him at a flat in the city. Jordan’s abuse led to this victim struggling with alcohol and drugs as a child, which in turn led to further abuse by Douglas.

Between 1986 and 1989, Douglas abused this victim, who was now aged 13, after meeting him while building a playground in Birmingham. Douglas went on to abuse another child between 1989 and 1990. Douglas’s abuse included trafficking and prostitution of his victim for money.

One survivor reported the crimes to police in 2018, but they have only now received justice, with both men convicted of indecency offences. Douglas was jailed for 14 years, and Jordan was sentenced to five years in prison.

These despicable actions by Douglas and Jordan do not occur in a vacuum. These men abused children and facilitated other abusers to harm these boys. These survivors have lived with the impacts of the abuse throughout their teenage, young adult, and now adult lives. I hope that these survivors can find a path to peace now these abusers are in prison and their crimes are publicly known.
