Norfolk former teacher William Caton jailed for abuse
A 28-year-old former teacher was recently sentenced to five years in prison at Ipswich Crown Court and was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
William Caton, of Diss, Norfolk, pleaded guilty to four counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity and three counts of sexual activity with a child. Caton was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.
The offences all related to one victim, a girl under 16.
This case is yet another stark reminder of someone entrusted with the care of young people abusing that trust in the most harmful way. It takes extraordinary courage for survivors to speak out, and it is thanks to their bravery that justice is finally being achieved.
