Former teacher and choirmaster David Pickthall admits abusing children

A choirmaster and teacher who was awarded an MBE has admitted sexually abusing children.

David Pickthall pleaded guilty to nearly 40 offences perpetrated upon many individuals following an investigation by Essex Police.

He admitted 16 counts of indecent assault, 10 counts of voyeurism and three counts of making an indecent image of a child.

Pickthall used his position as a music teacher at Brentwood School and choirmaster in the Havering area to abuse children who were placed in his care.

In 2015 he was awarded an MBE for services to education and charity. He will be sentenced on 11th November.
