Ex head teacher charged with sexually abusing girls

A former head teacher has been charged with sexually assaulting teenage girls.

Mark Bocker, 63, is facing four charges of sexual assault purportedly occurring between years 2007 and 2016. Bocker will appear at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court on a date yet to be determined.

The charges against Bocker come as a result of an extensive investigation by Lancashire Police into historical sexual offences within the Oswaldtwistle area.

Bocker, originally from Glasgow, boasts a 40-year-career as a head teacher across the Northwest, specialising in administering alternative provision to schools tailored to pupils excluded from mainstream education.

The accusations highlight the importance of robust safeguarding measures within school and educational institutions, ensuring the protection and well-being of all students. Additionally, this case underscores the significance of timely and thorough investigations into allegations of misconduct, regardless of the accused individual’s standing within the community.

Reporting sexual abuse allegations to the police is always pertinent, even after time has elapsed.
