Teacher banned indefinitely after asking ex-pupil for photos of her in bath
A senior teacher and safeguarding manager has been permanently banned from teaching after requesting explicit photos of a pupil.
Michael Lee, a former assistant headteacher at Swaffham Bulbeck Church of England Primary School, has been banned indefinitely after a misconduct hearing by the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA).
Lee, who was a designated safeguarding lead, was found to have sent inappropriate and sexual messages to a former pupil. This included becoming friends with her on social media, engaging in conversations about her romantic relationship with her boyfriend, and requesting explicit photos.
His actions, which occurred in 2017, violated professional boundaries and were deemed unacceptable conduct. Lee was banned indefinitely.
Inappropriate behaviour by professionals in positions of trust, such as teachers, extends beyond physical actions. It can include grooming, inappropriate messaging, or crossing professional boundaries.
These behaviours, even without a physical act, are harmful, violating trust and emotional boundaries. It’s essential to recognise such conduct is unacceptable and can have lasting emotional and psychological effects on those targeted.
