Witness Appeal: Abuse by Colour Sergeant in the King’s Regiment Army Cadets, Stephen Finnigan
Bolt Burdon Kemp is appealing for information about Stephen Finnigan, who was a Colour Sergeant and instructor of the King’s Regiment Army Cadets in Netherton, Liverpool. Finnigan was convicted of child sexual abuse and jailed in 2024.
I represent a client who has instructed me to bring a claim for the sexual abuse they suffered from Finnigan in the late 1980s, whilst he was at a separate Cadet Platoon in Liverpool.
Finnigan was a Colour Sergeant and instructor of the King’s Regiment Army Cadets. In November 2023, Finnigan was convicted of 29 offences against young children, including assault and buggery. He received a total sentence of 29 years and 6 months’ imprisonment.
I am appealing for witnesses on behalf of my client, who may be able to assist with our investigations. It is possible there are witnesses who had concerns about Finnigan’s conduct or who were aware of the abuse he perpetrated. There may also be other survivors who have not yet felt able to come forward and speak about their own experiences.
If you attended Cadets in the King’s Regiment, or other local Platoons, or if you, or someone you know, has any information in relation to Finnigan that may assist my client in their pursuit of justice, please contact me directly by email: josephcarr@bbkllp.co.uk or by telephone at 020 7288 4807.
