Roland Wright Jailed for Caldicott Boys’ School Sexual Abuse

83 year old former Caldicott Boys’ School headteacher, Roland Wright, has been jailed for eight years for sexually abusing boys at the school.

Wright has been convicted of sexually assaulting five pupils aged between eight and 13 while he was the headteacher at the school in Farnham Royal, Bucks.

Wright committed the abuse in the 1960s and 1970s whilst in charge of the school. Judge Joanna Cutts QC when sentencing Wright stated “This was prolonged activity, the boys were groomed by a master at a school responsible for their care.”

Wright was head of the school from 1968 until his retirement in 1993. He was responsible for the school’s rugby team and used his position to groom pupils and sexually abuse them.

In addition to an eight year prison sentence, Wright’s name will remain on the sex offenders’ register for life and he has been banned from working with children.

Other former Caldicott teachers have been convicted of sex offences including John Addrison who has received a five year prison sentence and Hugh Henry who committed suicide before being sentenced.
