Former Isle of Wight PC Found Guilty of Gross Misconduct

A former police officer on the Isle of Wight has been found guilty of gross misconduct, after he pursued a relationship with a “vulnerable” woman he met while on duty.

Dominic Green, who was a PC with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, met the woman when he stopped her untaxed car in 2019. He then used her details to contact her and performed a sex act on her. He also tried to dissuade her from participating in the investigation against him.

A disciplinary panel found that Green’s actions amounted to gross misconduct and that he had “breached the trust placed in him by the public”. He has been dismissed from the force with immediate effect.

The panel heard that Green had met the woman when he stopped her car in Newport. He took her details and then contacted her from his mobile phone. Over the next few months, he sent her “flirty” messages and asked her for “bath selfies”. He also performed a sex act on her when they met up in the early hours of the morning.

The woman reported Green to the police after she found out that he was married. An investigation was launched and Green was suspended from duty.

At the disciplinary hearing, Green denied any wrongdoing. He said that he had only been trying to help the woman and that he had not intended to cause her any harm.

However, the panel found that Green’s actions had been “inappropriate and unprofessional”. They said that he had abused his position of power and that he had “failed to uphold the standards expected of a police officer”.

Green has been dismissed from the force with immediate effect. He is also barred from working for any other police force in the UK.
