Dulwich College music teacher sexually assaulted pupils as young as eight

A music teacher at a prestigious private school has been convicted of sexually abusing boys during piano lessons.

Martin Ball, 89, routinely touched two students as young as eight inappropriately during music lessons at London’s Dulwich College.

Both boys were abused over separate five year periods in the Eighties and Nineties.

Notably, one of the students reportedly raised concerns about the incidents in the Nineties but no corrective action was taken at that time.

Ball vehemently refuted all 13 charges of indecent assault that were levelled against him in connection with his tenure at the private school in southeast London.

The first seven charges involved the first boy, starting when he was eight, spanning from September 1987 to October 1992.

The second boy, aged 10 at the time, was the subject of six other charges, dating from September 1990 to August 1995.

The abuse was reported by one of the victims in March 2021, who stated it occurred consistently during music lessons and continued until 1995.

This is a prime example of the fact that it is never too late to report sexual abuse to the police and despite decades passings, offenders can be successfully prosecuted and punished with justice being served.
