Bolt Burdon Kemp renews sponsorship of Back Up Youth Advisory Group

Children are amazing. I wrote that in my blog last year and I stand by it again this year.

Bolt Burdon Kemp sponsored Back Up’s Youth Advisory Group (YAG) in 2023/24 and it has been wonderful to be able to extend our sponsorship for another year.

Back Up is the only charity in the UK that has dedicated services for children and young people with a spinal cord injury. In 2023/24 211 children and young people were supported by Back Up; up from 145 in 2022/23.

And 100% of the children and young people Back Up have worked with say they are now feeling happier at school. That is an incredibly impressive statistic.

The YAG provides young people the opportunity to attend training weekends during which they can share their ideas and influence Back Up’s services. And who better to say what would benefit children and young people than children and young people themselves!

They also provide participants with an opportunity to develop their leadership skills, confidence, and meet other young people affected by spinal cord injury.

As part of our sponsorship, BBK is afforded the privilege of attending some of the YAG’s sessions. I have greatly enjoyed listening to the ideas being bounced around and I even learned some new things (including apps I have never heard of!).

As well as exchanging ideas these weekends also provide an opportunity for some fun as well. Games and water sports including water skiing and kayaking provide new challenges.

I am very excited to continue working with Back Up and support its dedication to children and young people with spinal cord injury.
