A night of songs and inspiration at The Silverlining Brain Injury Charity’s Music Extravaganza
Last month, I had the pleasure of attending the Silverlining Brain Injury Charity Music Extravaganza – an evening showcasing the musical talents of the Silverlining charity’s music therapy group members.
The event took place at the gorgeous Grocers Hall in the heart of the City of London. With its rich history and timeless elegance, it was the perfect setting for an evening of music and inspiring stories.
The Silverlining Brain Injury Charity is a wonderful organisation that helps to rebuild the lives of all those affected by and living with brain injury.
The charity supports brain injury survivors, as well as their family members and friends, by offering them opportunities to develop and expand their social network through discovering and exploring exciting and purposeful activities in the community. Activities on offer include international projects such as skiing trips, educational initiatives and regular social activities, such as art therapy and music therapy.
Bolt Burdon Kemp is proud to be affiliated with the Silverlining Solicitors’ scheme – a small pool of firms who the charity sees as being truly committed to supporting brain injured clients by not only having a strong track record but also volunteering and supporting Silverlining. My colleagues in the Adult Brain Injury team – Hokman Wong, Kimberly Mendonça, and Tori Hanley – and I enjoyed speaking with other guests during the welcome drinks and canapes at our reception stand before watching the spectacular show.
After welcome drinks and canapes in the reception, we moved to the luxurious main hall, where the Silverlining music therapy group, led by renowned musical therapist Emily Grimes, performed sensational cover and original songs reflecting their personal experiences of brain injuries.
Their energy and passion were palpable, and the performances unforgettably moving.
One of the highlights was the debut of a song from their music therapy group titled ‘Brain injury survivors’ which was truly inspiring.
The musical performances ended with a wonderful bassoon solo. During the show there was a silent auction of tempting treats including holidays, experience days, breaks, and food and drink, that were hard to resist.
The Silverlining Charity Music Extravaganza 2024 was a night to remember. It was a wonderful way to support an amazing charity and reminded us all of the importance of community, sharing stories, and supporting those affected by brain injuries. I left feeling inspired and grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an uplifting evening.
