The BBK Charity football fundraiser: A brilliant afternoon of team camaraderie

Put a group of legal and finance professionals in a room and it probably won’t be long before the competitive spirit appears. Add a football into the mix and, well, things are going to get lively.

So what better way to channel that energy than by raising money for a good cause?

The BBK Charity hosted a 5-a-side football tournament, bringing incredible energy to Finsbury Leisure Centre and transforming a friendly afternoon of sport into something truly meaningful.

The BBK Charity supports the local community and organisations that help people whose lives have been profoundly altered by serious injury or trauma, as well as initiatives that promote equality and diversity. Every pound raised enables us to provide resources, hope, and practical support to those who need it most.

Six mixed-gender teams—12 King’s Bench Walk, 7 Bedford Row, 39 Essex, 1 Crown Office Row, WillU Financial Group, and our own BBK LLP—took to the pitch with enthusiasm, playing fast-paced 10 minute round robin matches that kept spirits high and the competition wonderfully lively. From the first whistle, the sportsmanship on display was truly uplifting.

Reflecting on the game, Rhicha Kapila, trustee and chair of the fundraising committee, said: “Events like this tournament are fantastic because as well as raising funds, they raise awareness and bring people together. The trustees are very grateful to everyone who took part – it was a great afternoon.”

Huge thanks go to our brilliant fundraising committee—Marek Marczynski, Claire Withey, Karley Hewitt, Lucy Wakely, Kim Alexander, Ellie Steward, and Maya Englesberg—whose organisation and planning ensured the afternoon ran seamlessly.

After the final match, everyone gathered at BBK’s Newbury Street offices for celebratory drinks and nibbles. It was also the moment to award the winners’ trophy, and we were delighted to crown WillU Financial Services as this year’s champions—congratulations to the whole team.
