BBK Charity joins thousands at inclusive Parallel Windsor event

When we first launched the BBK Charity, we didn’t imagine it would involve running down the Long Walk in the shadow of Windsor Castle. But on Sunday 13 enthusiastic colleagues laced up their trainers for a very special event.

Parallel Windsor is a truly unique festival of inclusivity, welcoming people of all ages, abilities, and health conditions to take part in challenge events set within the stunning grounds of Windsor Great Park. Participants completed their chosen distances, from 100m to 10km, along the iconic Long Walk, with the majestic royal residence providing a spectacular backdrop.

There was also a programme of activities and sports, from climbing to cookery, as well as a sensory challenge for those with significant learning difficulties.

Despite temperatures soaring to a blistering 29°C, our team embraced the challenge, with 10 taking part in a variety of events ranging from 1km to 10km, and three volunteering at the event.

Thanks to a generous silver fundraising package kindly donated by the event organisers, which enabled us to have a stand to raise awareness about the BBK Charity and 10 places in the challenge events, colleagues from across the firm had the opportunity to challenge themselves, come together in support of a great cause, and help raise awareness of The BBK Charity. Whether running, jogging, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, everyone played their part in making it a fantastic day filled with inclusion, community spirit, and fundraising.

What makes Parallel Windsor so special is its focus on participation rather than competition. Fundraisers are encouraged to complete their challenges in whatever way works best for them, creating an atmosphere that is both empowering and supportive. The festival’s motto, ‘Start Together, Finish Whenever’, perfectly captures the spirit of acceptance, encouragement, and achievement that makes this event unlike any other.

The BBK Charity was established to create a positive impact beyond the legal work we do every day. Through fundraising, volunteering, and grant-giving, we support organisations and projects that improve the lives of people facing adversity, particularly those affected by injury and disability. Events like Parallel Windsor give our colleagues the opportunity to come together behind causes that matter and make a meaningful difference in our communities.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing so many colleagues from different teams supporting one another and sharing in the experience. It was also a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with some of our existing charity partners, meet new organisations doing important work, and enjoy a memorable day in Windsor with colleagues, family members, and even a few four-legged friends!

The BBK Charity would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the organisers of Parallel Windsor for their generosity in providing the silver fundraising package and for creating such a welcoming and inclusive event. We are also incredibly grateful to every member of staff who took part, donated, volunteered, or supported the team throughout the day.

By coming together at events like Parallel Windsor, we can raise awareness and continue building on The BBK Charity’s mission of creating positive change. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success—we look forward to many more opportunities to support great causes together in the future.
