Josh Beszant

Josh joined the Child Brain Injury team at Bolt Burdon Kemp as a paralegal in January 2019.  He is a trainee solicitor in the Complex Injury team.

Josh aspires to become a specialist solicitor in the field of clinical negligence in the future, with a particular interest in the brain and mental health.  Josh is particularly motivated by ensuring his clients receive the help they need and deserve.

He has worked as a paralegal in the field of clinical negligence since February 2018, both on behalf of claimants and defendants.  He worked at a regional firm in Guildford where he gained experience acting for defendants as the firm was instructed by the Medical Defence Union (MDU) and the Dental Defence Union (DDU).  Josh’s role involved assisting fee earners with legal research, liaising with clients and file reviews.  He then moved to a national firm in July 2018 where he acted for claimants in connection with a variety of clinical negligence claims involving misdiagnoses and negligent surgery, and he also gained some experience in relation to inquests.  His role involved liaising with clients, drafting instructions to and attending conferences with counsel and experts, legal research and preparation of schedules of loss.

Josh completed his undergraduate degree in Law (LLB) in July 2017 at the University of Surrey.  During his time there, he also completed a one year work placement at the National Centre for Domestic Violence that involved him assisting victims of domestic violence who were seeking help through the legal system to get injunctions and other remedies against their abusers.  He then completed his Legal Practice Course whilst at the same time studying for a Masters in Law and Business at the University of Law in Guildford, for which he achieved a commendation.

Josh is on secondment to Bolt Burdon until April 2021.
