Part of the Spinal Injury Team
Jessica joined Bolt Burdon Kemp in October 2016 as a solicitor in the Spinal Injuries team, assisting Raquel Siganporia. Jessica acts for clients who have sustained their injuries through both personal injury and medical negligence.
Prior to joining Bolt Burdon Kemp, Jessica worked as a senior paralegal at Stewarts Law for 3 years assisting on high value spinal injury claims.
Jessica relishes the challenges involved in working with clients who have complex injuries to enable them to participate fully in everyday life with the correct aids, equipment and support. This could be equipment to help with skiing, cycling or artwork when a client’s hand function is impaired. Her ability to understand a spinal cord injury paired with her interests in the latest equipment or adaptations available enables clients to resume their life and hobbies.
Jessica has gained considerable experience in creating, implementing and maintaining successful care packages. This involves identifying and locating case managers, obtaining funding and working with experts to identify and implement the needs of the client. Where relevant, this has also involved sourcing private medical therapies.
Jessica has been instrumental in assisting partners and senior solicitors in successfully concluding a number of high value complex cases. She assisted on a seven day High Court quantum trial for a high level spinal cord injured individual. This resulted in a capitalised settlement of £7 million including staged periodical payments and a lump sum.
Jessica has organised a number of charity events. In particular she arranged a London to Paris peloton to raise money for the National Spinal Injuries Centre. The participants were both spinal cord injured and able bodied. Those who were spinal cord injured arrived in Paris having cycled more than 320 miles over 3 days in a hand cycle.
