After Stroke: Making and Retaining Gains

The Brain Injury Team is proud to work with Action for Recovery from Neurological Injury to hold a free online conference on stroke recovery.

Two Day Stroke Rehabilitation Conference – 16th and 23rd September 2021

The Brain Injury Team is proud to work with Action for Recovery from Neurological Injury to hold a free online conference on stroke recovery. Leading stroke rehabilitation experts will give insights from their respective specialisms on how to maximise recovery after stroke.

Action for Recovery from Neurological Injury (ARNI)

ARNI is a charity that helps stroke survivors continue their functional recovery after they’ve been discharged into the community. For many stroke survivors this is a vulnerable time because NHS community based stroke rehabilitation services can be limited.

ARNI was founded by Dr Tom Balchin, who in 1997 suffered a stroke. In the 20 plus years since, he has drawn on his experience of beating stroke and developed an exercise programme for stroke survivors to regain the ability to perform everyday tasks. Tom’s emphasis is on functional recovery. He dispels outdated methods and focuses on what works.

Tom is on the far left in a black t-shirt, helping a stroke survivor work through the ARNI programme, which is backed by clinical studies and endorsed by senior doctors.

Through his tireless work in stroke rehabilitation, Tom has built up close relationships with the UK’s leading stroke rehabilitation experts. It is with Tom’s help we have the privilege of bringing together four eminent stroke experts in a conference to share their insights on maximising recovery after stroke.

Making and Retaining Gains after Stroke

As brain injury lawyers we are often there when a client makes the transition from hospital based to community based rehabilitation. This is a difficult time and frequently clients tell us they feel cast adrift and left to fend for themselves at the time they need help the most. That’s why we support ARNI who plug a vital gap in the needs of stroke survivors. We are working with ARNI to hold this conference to give stroke survivors, and the people who support them, the knowledge to maximise their recovery.
