Spotlight tells the story of a team of Boston Globe journalists who uncovered that the Catholic church knew that some of their priests were sexually abusing children and actively covered the abuse up by moving priests between parishes.

The film beat off The Revenant and The Big Short to win an Oscar for best picture while it also won an Oscar for best original screenplay. Two of the actors involved in the film, Mark Ruffalo and Rachel McAdams, were nominated for Oscars and so was the film’s director, Tom McCarthy.
