Jonathan Wheeler elected to APIL Presidency
Jonathan Wheeler, partner and head of child abuse claims at Bolt Burdon Kemp took office on the 23rd April as the president of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), at their annual conference in Wales. In his inaugural speech, Jonathan outlined his campaign priorities for the year: A fairer deal on damages for injured people, preventing pressure sores, helping vulnerable witnesses in court, and calling for public liability insurance to be compulsory. His dismay at recent Government policies on fundamental dishonesty and increased court fees was palpable as he lambasted the past administration and its shameful record on protecting the rights of injured people. He also spoke of the profession’s need to adapt to change, and to raise standards across the board.
