The British Safety Council (BSC) are launching a “Speak up, stay safe” campaign to encourage young people to challenge unsafe working conditions that could lead to an accident at work claim. Last year 3,200 people aged 16-19 suffered a serious accident at work. According to the Government’s Labour Force Survey 16-24 year old men have a 40% higher risk of having an accident at work than those aged 45-54. To prevent young workers suffering an accident at work and having to bring an accident at work claim; employers should provide adequate training and mentoring programmes.
