Where are all those boots?

A BBC documentary aired yesterday confirms the suspicions of military compensation claims lawyers that the MoD has no reliable system for keeping track of equipment. As a result, anything from boots, to tropical kits for Iraq (remember that?) to weapons and body armour is – says the MoD – not missing, exactly, but somewhere in the system, possibly in a warehouse. Or maybe not. But not on the ground, in the right place, where the staff need them, at the time it would be useful. And then they’re surprised when someone is injured.
