The safe handling and use of metalworking fluids

A new DVD entitled "The Safe Handling and Use of Metal Working Fluids" has been released by the UKLA Metalworking Fluid Product Stewardship Group, in conjunction with the HSE. The DVD is intended to provide an information and traning resource for users and the lubricants industry itself. The content, which will hopefully prevent an accident at work claim being made in this area, focuses on describing the hazards to the respiratory system and skin which can arise when fluid management is poor and workplace precautions are inadequate, places strong emphasis on suitable and sufficient risk assessment, exposure control, fluid monitoring, employee training and health surveillance and illustrates the importance of good working practices. If employers in the industry can follow the recommendations in this DVD, they will avoid the need to pay out as much work accident compensation.
