Simple mistakes can shatter lives

August 03, 2010

The Health and Safety Executive has launched a "Shattered Lives" campaign to highlight to employers the possibility of their employees claiming work accident compensation while working at height, or slipping or tripping in the workplace. This type of accident at work claim is simple and easy to prevent, but many companies are not implementing policies which comply with the Regulations in this area, which is leading to an increase in a work accident claim of this nature. Over 10,000 employees made a major accident at work claim as a result of a slip or trip in the workplace in 2008/09, with a further 4,000 claiming work accident compensation as the result of a fall from height. The HSE's work in this area is both admirable and tireless, and even extends to the provision of online "toolkits", such as STEP (Slips and Trips E-Learning Package) and WAIT (Work at height Access equipment Information Toolkit), to give employers an "idiot's guide" to how they can prevent these types of accident at work claim occurring. Find out more about whether you are able to claim work accident compensation and make an accident at work claim.
