Shocking catalogue of errors in Britain's most horrific child abuse case
December 14, 2010
Sue Gilmore, the social services manager in charge of overseeing the care of 'Baby P ' has come under further criticism after huge opportunities were missed by Haringey Social Services to ensure his protection. In a previously unseen interview, aired on Panorama last night, Tracy Connelly, Peter's mother, talks openly to Gilmore four months before the toddler's death about a man called Steven who despite clearly being in their lives was never investigated. In truth Steven Barker was living with Connelly and was later convicted of causing or allowing the death of Baby P, along with his brother and Connelly, who pleaded guilty to the charges. This case continues to shock the nation and Haringey, who failed ten years previously in the case of Victoria Climbie, continue to be exposed over three years on after Baby Peter's death.
