Following a successful trial period, the Child Sex Offender Scheme which allows parents to check if someone in contact with their child is a sex offender has now been extended to every police force in England and Wales.
The scheme can only be described as a success with almost 10% of all enquiries from concerned persons leading to further action being taken by the police. Now all parents in England and Wales will be able to make requests for further information from their local police force to help safeguard their children.
The national roll out is a welcome step in increasing child protection.
