Ministry of Defence criticised for compensation pay-outs

A response to a Freedom of Information Act request has apparently disclosed the “news” that the MoD paid out £90m in compensation in 2009/10. The Sun says it’s outraged (again) and, as it so often does, puts the blame on those who claim. That’s just not fair. No one asks to be the victim of medical negligence, assault or injury caused by bad equipment. If you are injured, your life can be turned over. The money goes some way towards putting it right. If the MoD didn’t injure so many of its personnel, the claims would reduce as well.
